The power of coffee
How does 'sustainable' coffee affect farmers? This study analyzes how farmers in East Timor are affected by sustainability in the coffee industry. Bjørge Bondevik is co-founder of Konfiansa and this text is part of his master's thesis in international business and politics.
Norway + East Timor

Konfiansa consists of a team of talented young people in Norway and East Timor. In Norway we work voluntarily and collaborate with Tony i Jacobsen and Svart to roast the coffee. In East Timor we have some part-time employees in addition to volunteers and are working to establish a long-term collaboration with a group of coffee farmers.
As of now, we only ship to customers at Norwegian addresses.

We will send out an email every now and then to keep you updated on what we are working on in Norway and East Timor. It means a lot to us that you will follow this project!

At least one third of what you pay for the coffee
is directly distributed back to the farmer and the local community.
East Timor and coffee
For East Timor, one of Southeast Asia's poorest countries, coffee production is a key to sustainable development and poverty reduction. One third of East Timor's inhabitants depend on coffee production. At the same time, incomes are very low and unstable.
