Coffee from Parami.

Six hours along bumpy roads. Up and down over 4,000 meters in altitude.

And with coffee trees everywhere you look.

Up here lies Parami. A small village at the foot of East Timor's highest mountain, Ramelau.

This is where Moises comes from. He has been a volunteer and part-time employee at Konfiansa for many years.

His whole family are coffee farmers. Moises lives and breathes coffee. Now he wants us to start a project in Parami.

Moises and his extended family have now established a small family cooperative. They harvest the coffee and process it themselves, before it is then transported the long way down to Dili, the capital of East Timor.

The coffee from Parami is known for its high quality. Like all other coffee in East Timor, it is grown wild, without the use of artificial fertilizers or pesticides.

In 2024, the small cooperative will produce just over 1,000 kg. In 2025, the goal is to increase production.

To ensure good quality, Konfiansa will assist the cooperative with equipment for processing.

Here Moises checks the moisture level in the coffee. Optimally, this should be around 10%. Then the beans are stable for a long time.

Through fair trade, our goal is to improve living conditions among poor farmers. Stable, high prices are important, but in the long term we will also implement social projects and work closely with the local population.

In the long term, all of our profits will go back to the local community where the coffee is produced.
